Meet Up Mix Up

November 19, 2014 by Long Pham

Thai Nakorn has two locations. One in Stanton in a semi-shady strip mall, and one in Garden Grove in a semi-shady area. When I say shady, I’m not referring to light being blocked by an object. Got it?

Anyways, we went to the Thai restaurant to meet up with a friend. She’s usually never late, so when the designated meeting time had passed, I started asking about what was going on. Turns out that the meeting location had never been discussed and each party assumed a different location. We were sitting inside the Garden Grove restaurant, while our friend was sitting inside the Stanton restaurant, each just waiting patiently for the other to arrive!

Our friend embarrassingly explained the situation to the Stanton restaurant employees and left to join us in Garden Grove. Luckily, they aren’t really that far apart so she arrived in a jiff.

Overall, the food at Thai Nakorn in Garden Grove is great. It’s exactly the same as the food in Stanton. My only complaints lie in the carpet flooring in the restaurant and the cleanliness of the restrooms. Listen folks, carpet at a restaurant is usually never a good idea. Unless you plan on washing the carpets every night, it’s just a sponge for the filth and a breeding ground for all the nastiness. And for humanity’s sake, clean the damn restrooms!

Thai Nakorn – Garden Grove

This Pineapple Fried Rice has generous helpings of…everything. I was really hungry so I started to dig in while we waited for our friend. The cashews were so addicting that I kept going at it.

Pad See Ew with beef. Ultra wide rice noodles with beef and Chinese broccoli.

The Beef Panang Curry is usually one of my favorite dishes at Thai Nakorn, but it wasn’t that great during this visit. The beef is usually very tender, but it was kind of rubbery this time.

Pad Thai with shrimp. A classic staple that we almost always order. We just can’t seem to get enough.

More fried rice! Our friend ordered this so she could bring some food home to her fiance.

The Clams in Chili Paste Basil were the highlight of the meal. To me, it wasn’t that spicy, but it had some great flavor!
